Questions from a learner

Postby Tilly » Wed Feb 24, 2010 1:55 pm

Hi everyone, I was diagnosed last month and still have a lot to learn so hope you don't mind if I pick your brains.
Sometimes when I have my blood pressure taken the pain from the cuff tightening is out of all proportion and is
hard to bear, so could this be PR pain?
Another question is, I get pain in my typing finger joint and in my arm if I try to play Wii games or any other repetitive
things, like knitting, does repeated movements cause the PR to flare up/cause pain.
Does doing ordinary things like going to visit relatives etc completely wipe you out the next day?
Thanks in advance, tilly xx :)

Tilly, for me the blood pressure cuff depends on who is doing it, and the size of the cuff. Everyone but my GP uses a small cuff that makes my arm ache. I get pain from handwork and the Wii but that is from osteo arthritis, not PR. Visiting relatives does wipe me out for at least a day. I even get that after being with people I like.

Tilly...sorry Toots the cuff is a screamer....it needs to go tight to get the correct pressure reading.

Hi ladies, thankyou for replying.

Thing is with the blood pressure cuff is, that this is way outside the normal ouch you get when the cuff is blown up a tad high.

It's difficult to explain but it's real agony sometimes but just the normal blood pressure cuff other times. It's nothing

to do with how far it blows up-just a gentle pressure sometimes is enough for tears to spring into my eyes. It feels like a car has run over my arm.

I was thinking it's maybe to do with a "PR flair," I have to have my BP checked pretty regularly and it's been fine except for the last

2/3 years that has maybe coincided with the PR taking off.
